What I feel like the Lord wants to communicate at this moment to the people of God is this…
“I desperately want my people to be in my place of protection. I want to spread myself as a covering over my people. I want to guard and protect you from all harm and from every attack of the enemy. Just as I have said that I will never leave you or forsake you, so YOU must lean in to my Spirit. The promises I make are there for the taking. I will do what I say. I will perform my word, but to receive, you must lean in to me. Lean in to my word. Lean in to my protection. Lean in to my presence. Drawing near is a must, it is what I require. Come near to the place of protection.”
PROTECTION IS PROVISIONAL.
It’s not that the Lord is transient, and shifting with us…NO…He is steady, faithful, and sure.
Protection is provisional with the idea that, to receive the full release of the promise of God into our life, is predicated on our decision to DRAW NEAR, ABIDE IN HIM, HAVE FAITH IN HIS PROMISE, and STAY CLOSE TO HIM.
God doesn’t THROW his protection and provision from a distance.
God doesn’t “lob” his promises at us as though they were a softball he was half-heartedly lobbing at us.
Instead, if we really want the promises of God to be real, true, and expressive in our life…then we must draw close.
The thing I felt as I asked the Lord about this post continues to ring in my ears.
WE MUST DRAW NEAR.
Salvation, the promises of God, the grace of God are all FREE…but they are ALL CONDITIONAL.
“Free” and “conditional” are not the same thing.
Free means without cost.
Conditional means that requirements must be met.
It’s the same difference as getting a letter in the mail that says you have received a FREE gift, but to obtain it or receive it, you must come PICK IT UP.
There is no cost, but the simple condition is that you must GO and GET IT.
- To receive, I have to go get it.
- To receive, I have to stay close.
- To receive I must activate my part of the covenant.
Grace doesn’t just happen in my life, it comes in response to the fact that I believe in it, and that I draw near to receive it, and that I stay under the place of God’s presence where mercy and grace dwell.
In this hour, the Lord is trying to speak to his people about protection.
It’s always right and biblical to pray for the government, and we should.
It’s always right and biblical to pray for those in authority, and we should.
But, I really feel the Lord is impressing upon his people, that RIGHT NOW is the time to pray for those people who matter most to you.
The time is short.
It’s time not only for you and me to get under God’s protective covering, but for us also to PRAY FOR THOSE IN OUR FAMILY AND IN OUR CIRCLE WHO MATTER MOST TO US.
We have to pray them into the protective covering of the Lord.
As Pastor Mark Batterson says,* “pray circles around your family.”*
In my last post, we talked about crying out to the Lord to “spare your people.”
This post takes that idea one step further, in that we are also called, and THIS IS THE TIME, to pray circles around our most important relationships, call them into or call them back into the place of God’s protection.
As the Lord said…He desperately wants for his people to be in his place of protection.
What does the Bible say about it?
Psalm 91:1-2 NKJV
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
To dwell means:
To sit down in quiet and remain there, to LIVE there.
The Lord wants us to LIVE in a place of protection, and not just us, but those we are responsible for.
Our close family.
Our close friends.
The people who belong to our innermost circle.
The “secret” place means:
A covering, shelter, hiding place, secrecy.
The Lord is calling his people right now to LIVE in a secret place of shelter, and covering from the things GOING on and what is ABOUT TO HAPPEN.
I’m not making a prophetic announcement here…
I’m simply telling you that I feel deeply that the Lord is making a call for his people to come back to the secret place of covering, and to bring as many of your friends and loved ones with you as you can.
The Lord will spread himself as a covering over those who come to him, and draw near to him, and he will protect you and keep you.
What does scripture say about it?
Psalm 121:1-8 NKJV
I will lift up my eyes to the hills- From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
THIS IS THE PROMISE OF GOD TO US!
But it is provisional and contingent upon us drawing near and coming close.
In the same way that you cannot use an umbrella unless you come close to the person holding it, so we cannot be under the shade of the Lord’s covering and protective power unless we stay very near to him.
Now…here’s why it’s very important that we understand this idea…because the devil has a strategy he is seeking to work against us.
I wrote about this in another blog post, but it’s worth mentioning here.
Here’s what the devil is trying to do to you…
Your enemy, the devil, is trying to lure you out from under COVER.
He doesn’t want you to stay close to Jesus.
He doesn’t want you to remain and abide NEAR your POWER SOURCE.
He wants to lure you out with fear, sin, or any other thing that will get you out into the open.
That’s his strategy.
It seems unlikely that we would come out from under cover when we are afraid, but often, we come out from cover in order to SEE where the danger is.
We think that, if we can see it, and keep our eyes on it, we can be READY for it when it happens.
But the Word of God is exactly opposed to this.
The Lord says, abide, cover, draw near, look to Jesus.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, and we don’t have to understand everything that is happening in the world in order to prepare.
What we MUST DO in order to prepare is be closer to Jesus than we’ve ever been and be ready to PULL THE PEOPLE WE CARE ABOUT back under the cover WITH US.
It’s time to pray in your family.
It’s time to pray in your children.
It’s time to pray in the people you love.
It’s time to cover your circle in prayer like you’ve never done before.
Build a wall of protection around them. Don’t just sit and wait on God to do all the work, but press into the throne room of God FOR THEM.
Intercede on their behalf.
Lift them before the throne of heaven.
This is the hour of calling.
God is calling back his people.
God is reaching out not only to Israel, but to the church.
He is calling us back to place of protection and holiness, repentance and provision.
We have to draw near to him.
It’s time to come back into the place of safety and pray as many people back in with us as we can!
Don’t let your enemy lure you out from under the Lord’s covering and protection.
