You need to know that there is HELP in the middle of your situation.
You need to remember that there is a God who is FOR YOU.
You have not been forsaken.
Here’s the word from the Lord for this post:
“I will be with you says the Lord. My help will be your strength and my name will be your strong tower. You have looked all around and come up wanting, but only seek me, search for me, find your fill of joy inside the ark of my presence…so your enemies will be destroyed around you. Those who come against you to overtake you will fall. You don’t have to worry or be afraid, for I, the Lord, have already stepped into your future, and you are secured by my hand. So don’t turn to the right hand or to the left, but place your eyes firmly upon me and seek me through prayer and through my word. I am here, and you will find me.”
I receive that word!
Our prayer ought to be…
“Lord , never let us forget…
Never let us forget your goodness.
Never let us forget all the times you’ve come through for us, and been a rock in the midst of the storm. Never let us be discouraged by what we see, for the MASTER is in our midst. The One who rolls back the sea, and conquers the waves, is among us. The presence of the Lord will bring healing, and help when we need it most. Lord, never let us forget ALL the goodness and favor that you bestow.”
God wants us to remember his name during the midst of our trouble.
He wants us to remember that HE IS THE ONE who is MASTER, CONTROLLER, and IN CHARGE over the affairs of our life.
Today is a day in which you need not fear because the great God whom we serve walks among us!
THERE IS BREAKTHROUGH in your midst!
Why? Because the Lord is the MASTER OF BREAKTHROUGHS.
Where it looks like trouble, God can bring blessing.
Where it feels like the end, God can start a beginning.
Every single time the people of God were thought to be counted out, GOD SHOWED UP AND BROUGHT BREAKTHROUGH.
He has not changed.
He will do as he has always done.
This story from the Old Testament bears out the truth of breakthrough…
1 Chronicles 14:2 NKJV
So David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
Now, let me begin by saying that two things happened here.
First, David knew that it was God who had established him.
Second, the enemy also knew that God had established the authority and throne of David.
We have to understand that the Lord ESTABLISHES US TOO.
Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 NKJV
And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 NKJV
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
Now, hear the words of the next passage, because it is clear, that just like with David, the enemy of our soul ALSO KNOWS that we are established and he does all he can to defeat us.
1 Peter 5:8-10 NKJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
The word, “establish,” in this passage means:
To set fast, to make firm, to strengthen, and to render constant in one’s mind.
Sometimes our mind and our thoughts get the better of us, but we have to KNOW something about ourselves, just like David understood.
We must remember that God HAS and God WILL ESTABLISH US.
God has established you in:
In his Authority.
In his promises.
In his presence.
In your role as a king and priest before the Lord.
In your mind.
In your heart.
In his forgiveness.
In his righteousness.
You have power and authority BECAUSE GOD HAS ESTABLISHED YOU!
Every time the Lord establishes a man or a woman, you can expect the enemy of their soul to fight hard against the anointing and establishment.
It happened to David.
It will happen to us.
1 Chronicles 14:8-10 NKJV
Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. Then the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim. And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” The LORD said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
Here’s the first secret of breakthrough…
YOU MUST INQUIRE OF THE LORD.
You have to hear from God.
What is the Lord planning?
How does the Lord want you to work?
What does the Lord require of you in your situation?
When you take action without inquiring of the Lord, you effectively STOP the Lord’s input and authority into your situation.
Without inquiring of the Lord, you are operating under your OWN POWER…which always fails.
But David knew the secret of inquiring; Peter knew it too.
Remember when Peter was in the boat and wanted to walk on the water to Jesus? What did he say? “Lord, if it’s you, TELL ME TO COME TO YOU.”
Why? Because Peter and David BOTH KNEW that if the LORD SAYS TO DO SOMETHING, then the “something” he says to do CAN BE DONE!
Is God trying to tell you something?
Is the Lord speaking into your situation right now?
The answer is YES, but you have to inquire of him and hear his answer.
1 Chronicles 14:11-12 NKJV
So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim. And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
God broke through in the battle like water breaking through a dam!
In fact, the name of the place where they defeated the enemy literally means… “Master of Breakthroughs.”
God IS the MASTER OF BREAKTHROUGHS!
God has breakthrough for you!
There is breakthrough coming for the people of God.
We can expect this same master of breakthroughs to breakthrough for us, because what he did for David, he will likewise do for YOU!
When you seek him, inquire of him, and search after him, you open up the door for BREAKTHROUGH to happen in your life!
But there is more to the story, and another secret of breakthrough we must learn.
1 Chronicles 14:13-14 NKJV
Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.
So things were different this time.
Here’s a secret to store away in your heart…
GOD DOESN’T HAVE TO DO THE SAME THING, THE SAME WAY.
Often, God has a different plan.
Just because he came through one way before, doesn’t mean he is going to do the same thing again.
Why? Well, certainly the Lord keeps the enemy on his toes, but it’s not just to confound the enemy.
God also wants us to practice the second secret to breakthrough.
1 Chronicles 14:13-17 NKJV
Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
The second secret to breakthrough is:
WAITING TO HEAR THE LORD’S SIGNAL.
What is the Lord’s signal?
It might be a “WORD” from his word.
It might be something he speaks in your heart.
It might be something that God tells you to wait for as a sign, like this sign for David.
When God says to “wait” for something, we need to pay close attention and give the Lord our undivided attention.
Why? Because he is about to do something incredible.
Even though David had literally circled and surrounded the enemy, and it seemed they could move in for attack at any moment, God commanded them to wait, because they were NOT TO MOVE until the Lord WENT BEFORE THEM.
God will go before YOU AS WELL.
He will walk ahead of you, clearing your path, securing your victory, making sure that you have a path to succeed against your enemy.
DON’T MOVE UNTIL YOU HEAR THE LORD’S SIGNAL.
Sometimes, God will give you a “word” through someone.
Sometimes, the Lord will cause a scripture to launch off the page and go into your spirit.
Sometimes, you simply get the still, small voice of confirmation in your heart as you pray.
Whatever you’re about to do…wait to hear from God FIRST!
So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
