So many people right now could care less about God, living a holy life, doing the things God desires us to do, gathering and being part of the church, and living a life of repentance.
They are bound up by the world, sin, in bondage to all sorts of idols and temptations.
These bondages are expressing themselves through unrest, turmoil, confusion, hurt, and hatred.
Everything we hear and see involves another terrible thing happening on the earth, with people doing terrible things to other people…most of the time, acts of death and violence worse than we can imagine.
There is coming a moment in time when the trumpet of God will sound and Jesus will return for his church.
We call it the rapture.
Whether you believe in the rapture of the church or not, isn’t a debate I’m interested in having.
For the sake of this post, the rapture is a real, upcoming event, that will take place in the blink of an eye, the children of God will be gone instantly, leaving behind those who refused to serve God and repent of their sin before it was too late.
Here’s the Biblical description of the rapture of the church…
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 NKJV
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Those who have died as believers in Jesus, and those believers still living at the time of the rapture, will be caught up in the air to be with Christ forever.
The earthly story is OVER, and the heavenly eternity begins.
No more problems, pains, disappointments or issues.
But what about those people who are left?
What happens to them?
Many say that those who miss the rapture have lost all hope…that the world is over…and it’s too late.
Here’s the truth…
If you miss the rapture, you’ve missed the best chance you’ll have ever had.
Even with all the difficulties of life, the easiest time to serve Jesus is BEFORE the rapture.
But there is still hope!
All you have to do is a simple read in the book of Revelation to see that there is hope.
Question: If I miss the rapture, can I still be saved and know Jesus?
The answer is yes.
Revelation chapter seven speaks about a multitude that “no man can number” from every race and tribe that WILL BE SAVED during the great tribulation that begins immediately following the rapture.
But here’s the difficult part of the truth…
If you are left behind, and want to be saved, you will most likely be killed or tortured for your faith more severely than anyone ever has been.
Many say that the Holy Spirit leaves the earth when the rapture happens…I don’t believe that.
Scripture declares to us that…
John 6:44 NKJV – No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
How does the Father draw us? By the Holy Spirit, who is an integral part of salvation.
Nonetheless, if you are left behind, you can be saved, but at the expense of your life and terrible pain.
If you do not die a martyr, you will experience untold tribulation and events we cannot even comprehend at the present time.
Revelation shows us that there are still believers on earth, those left behind and sealed after the rapture, who will face these terrible events.
Let me be clear about two things:
- You do not want to be left behind.
- If you read this after the rapture has taken place, you only have one hope left. Give your heart and life to Jesus immediately, repent of your sin, turn your heart to God, and prepare yourself for the consequence.
Your hope is NOT in this world, but your ONLY HOPE is in the fact that eternity with Jesus in heaven awaits you when you die.
The antichrist, who you’ve probably heard about, will actually come on the world scene.
Do your best to get ahold of a Bible, and keep it safe and guarded…any copy of scripture will be a lifeline to you.
Understand that there will be people left behind that acted like Christians before the rapture happened, but their true life was revealed by being left behind…find some of those people.
They might not have lived in the truth before the rapture, but they will have been taught the truth and know some of the truth…They will most likely begin to turn their hearts to God for real at this point.
But, your Bible will be your lifeline.
Read it for yourself.
Read beginning in Revelation chapter four.
Don’t be alarmed by what you read, but understand that the fact you’ve given your life to Jesus is the HOPE you now carry.
Being informed of what Scripture says will give you a guideline for what is going to take place in the world next.
Question: What should I do if I miss the rapture.
I realize I’m already in the middle of answering this…but let me clarify it better.
- Give your life to Jesus NOW…DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER! IT’S YOUR ONLY HOPE!
- Get a Bible from anywhere you can. A New King James Version or a New Living Translation have both helped me understand scripture more clearly.
- Pray, pray, pray! When something bad happens…pray. When you don’t know what to do…pray. When you are unsure of direction, scared, lonely, hurting…pray! Prayer will always be the greatest resource you have. Remember, once you have given your life to Jesus, you are a child of God, God loves you and always has, he will be with you. Yes, you did miss the rapture, but Jesus still loves those who give their heart to him now.
- Read the book of Ephesians in the Bible, it will help you understand more about the new life you now have in Jesus Christ, and strengthen you to take a stand for your faith…even unto death.
- Read the book of Revelation in the Bible, it will help you understand what’s happening around you as you now live in a vastly different world than I can imagine now.
- Remember that there are prayers that have been prayed for YOU! I believe there are people all across the world, right now, before the rapture, that are praying for those left behind. God remembers our prayers and he will strengthen you.
This has been a really hard post for me to write.
I cannot imagine what it will feel like to be left after the rapture.
Maybe you didn’t turn to Jesus sooner because of bad things that happened in your past, or because of some ignorant act that had been done to you by someone who claimed to be a Christian…I’m sorry for whatever pushed you away from Jesus.
I wish I could have talked to you about Jesus sooner…but this post is the conversation I wish I could have had.
There is a short chapter in the book of Psalms, in the Bible, that many people simply dismissed before the rapture happened.
But the truth and comfort of that small chapter remain even now.
Here it is…
Psalm 23:1-6 NKJV
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
God will still be your shepherd…even now.
He will still restore your soul…even now…Giving your life to Jesus, turns away the anger of God, and releases you from the bondage of your sins.
Even in the valley of the shadow of death, you don’t have to fear!
God will be with you now if you simply give your life to Jesus.
In the presence of whatever enemy you have to face…God will anoint your head with the oil of his Spirit.
My final words to you are…
Do not quit serving Jesus no matter what happens to you.
If you accept him, we are family, and I’ll see you soon!
